YOHAKU

Museum Night Shift美術館の夜勤

The museum closes for the night. By nine in the morning the new show has to be up. Carry the heavy pieces together, hang the paintings straight at 145 cm, turn the sculptures to face the visitors, and try not to drop the vase.

For Windows. One or two players on one PC. Coming to Steam.

How it plays

  1. Lift together
Some pieces are too heavy for one person. If your hands are at different heights, the painting tilts.
  2. 145 cm
The centre of a painting goes 145 cm from the floor, the height many museums use. Straight and right on it scores best.
  3. Face the visitors
Turn each sculpture so its front faces the room, and set it in the middle of its plinth.
Two night staff carry a wide painting toward its place on the wall
The big painting takes two. Keep your hands level.

Nine o'clock

At nine the glass doors open and the visitors come in. They stop in front of each piece and say what they think. A crooked painting gets a tilted head.

Visitors at nine o'clock, stopping in front of the pieces with short remarks
Nine o'clock. The visitors tell you how you did.

The works

Many of the pieces are Tadahiro's own works from art school: a clay UFO taking people away, an Othello board in paper and mirror, line drawings. When a second player joins, two special exhibitions open: Big Works, three of them too heavy to lift alone, and Haniwa, after the clay figures of ancient Japan.

The Haniwa special exhibition: a clay horse, dancing figures, a dog, a goggle-eyed figure and a bronze bell on plinths
Special exhibition: Haniwa. The horse is heavy, and it breaks.
